Soul, the movie
If you haven't seen "Soul" the Pixar movie, give it a shot. I watched it with my daughters who are 11 and 14, and we all came away knowing this is a keeper. A new classic.
All my life I have grappled with the words 'meaning' and 'purpose'. When I say grappling, I mean defeated. Other people claim to be living their higher purpose, making the world a better place, being of service to a god or an idea. Not me. Sorry, I am too busy looking after myself and my beloved dependents. Throw in big idea words like soul, spirit, mission and I am truly delinquent.
But wait, the movie.
A jazz musician finally gets his big break to live his purpose of making great music ... and he promptly dies.
A flabby tabby hates the idea of tiptoeing through the grime and slime of mother earth.
These two characters get handcuffed together (metaphorically yeah) and the result is a deep understanding of purpose and meaning. They shift from jaded and driven to awestruck. And that is what it is all about, no? Finding the marvelous in the mundane.
Now, are there ways to latch into the mysteries and marvels of everyday everythings? I have been noticing my DDMF this evening (Default Digital Morose Face). And I preach this stuff all day to others. So my personal coach Rob Wang called me up and offered me a nipple pinch with the text...
"How would it look if you started taking on building your business with delight as your guide?"
Can you feel it? That smile rising up inside?
How would it feel taking on anything at all with delight as my guide? Awesome. Thanks Rob.
