Dance Activism
Since the summer, I have a new hobby! Yup, remember those? An activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure. I love this one so much I am starting to preach it. It is my foray into activism. Always been a reluctant activist partly because I am lazy, partly because I don't fire up easily, and partly because I have noticed activism easily slips into a zero sum culture.
So, why this change of heart? If activism in the classic sense is 'vigorous action to achieve a goal', my goal is to dance with you, in community. Yup. I mean that. Dance with you! I cannot imagine a more fun way to spend time together.
Trying not to lose you by waxing poetic here. So let me just say...
No matter the weather, outdoor dance is ON.
If you are body or movement shy, this is for you.
If you are a professional dancer, you are also welcome.
If you are awkward and goofy, perhaps a bit like me, stay home. Just kidding.
My friends LiLa and V spend hours creating incredible themed playlists and we meet 3 times a week to simply shake it all out and let loose. Bainbridge, Indianola, Port Townsend. And it is FREE.
Pure and simple. For the love of dance!
